Help End Mass Incarceration in New Mexico

Crossroads for Women is proud to partner with the New Mexico SAFE coalition and the ACLU of New Mexico’s Campaign for Smart Justice.

Join us this legislative session to advocate for evidence-based criminal justice reform in New Mexico.

Make your voice heard at the End Mass Incarceration Day of Action on Tuesday, February 19 at 10am at the State Capitol.

Here is a message from ACLU of New Mexico:

If you are one of the majority of New Mexicans who is worried about crime but believe the current system needs an overhaul— we need your help. If you believe it is time to abandon tough-on-crime policies that destroy communities of color in favor of reforms designed to keep communities whole and safe, come out and support the cause.

Join the ACLU of New Mexico’s Campaign for Smart Justice, Young Women United, Crossroads for Women, Millions for Prisoners, Save the Children Progress Now and Los Cafecitos at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Feb. 19, at the State Capitol “the Roundhouse,” as we fight for evidence-based criminal justice reform this legislative session.

Each year, millions of dollars in public money is thrown away incarcerating those accused and convicted of committing crimes. Comparatively, we invest very little resources on what we know makes our communities safer — treating the addiction and mental health issues that is at the root at much of today’s crime.

With your help, we can change these destructive trends. This legislative session we have a rare opportunity to make strides in ending mass incarceration in our state. A new administration and majority in the legislature gives us hope. We will have multiple opportunities, for the first time in eight years to pass bipartisan criminal justice legislation that puts people before prisons.

But if we’re going to succeed, we need your help! See you February 19th!
