A Very “Mad” Tea Party

One of our favorite events, Tea Time with Crossroads was back for its 7th year!  Guests did not disappoint, as many took our Alice in Wonderland theme to heart and showed up in costume! We were thrilled to have NM Tea Company and Flirting with Frosting partner with us once again! A special thank you to First Citizens Bank for sponsoring the event.

Delicious treats provided by Flirting with Frosting

Savory and sweet treats provided by Flirting by Frosting were a hit, with such items as “White Rabbit Carrot Cake” and “Flamingo Croquet Cantaloupe, Prosciutto and Mozzarella Mallets.” While NM Tea Company’s selections included a “Black Jasmine Cream” and a “Rooibois Masala Chai,” that paired nicely with the afternoon snack lineup.

Professional auctioneer, Camille Romero Melton

This year’s auction boasted items such as tickets to Hamilton, art from local artists and Crossroads staff members, and beautiful jewelry options.  With the help from professional auctioneer, Camille Romero Melton, we were able to raise close to $5,000 from the auction alone!

Crossroads alumna and current Program Director, Celeste Estrada gave a heartfelt speech about her journey from falling down her personal rabbit hole and coming out the other side to find herself. Celeste shared, “though taking risks can be scary, like crawling down a rabbit hole, standing still can be scarier. Without taking risks and challenging ourselves we don’t grow. Honestly, I can relate so much to Alice, it’s great. Thinking of every choice I make, and every task I am asked to do, I challenge myself and the first thing I learned is, JUST SHOW UP.”

Between ticket sales, general donations, and the auction, we were able to raise over $11,000! We want to say thank you so much to our supporters! Thank you for making this year’s tea so much fun! We had a wonderful time hosting all of you and hope that you will be back next year!

Thank you to our Fundraising Committee for their hard work with the event, we couldn’t have done it without you!
