6th Annual Tea Time with Crossroads was a huge success!

Highlights from Tea Time with Crossroads

After having to cancel in 2020 and going virtual in 2021, Tea Time with Crossroads was back with a bang in 2022.  The event, which was held at the new Crossroads Village, was a sold-out affair that boasted delectable treats from local baker (and Crossroads Fundraising Committee member) Leah Tiemann’s company Flirting with Frosting and delicious teas from NM Tea Company.   Executive director, Cory Lee shared in the excitement of having attendees in person at Tea Time this year, “It was wonderful to be able to hug everyone who has supported this event over the past six years,” adding “Crossroads is about building a community, and nothing is better at building a community than sharing a meal.”

Tea Time also included an auction with professional auctioneer, Camille Romero Melton at the helm.  Melton’s fast-talk kept the auction rolling and attendee’s laughing, “My wife outbid me on a painting! I’ll get her next year,” said Lee.  All auction items were sold, and there were many generous donations at the event.  Tea Time with Crossroads raised over $15,000 this year which left Lee overwhelmed, “The staff, women, and I want to say a big thank you to our Crossroads community.  The money raised will do so much to support the program.  It’s heartwarming to know that Ginger’s story inspired the community to participate as much as they did this year.”  Ginger Sharpe, Crossroad’s client and local artist, was the featured guest speaker and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room after she recalled her rise from a difficult past.  She praised Crossroads for what they have provided for her. “I never thought it would be possible for me to turn my life around.  Thanks to this program I now have full custody of my 15-year-old daughter, a home to live in, I remain clean and sober, and I have a 5-year plan and an opportunity to change the world.”  Sharpe plans on becoming a certified peer support worker and opening her own type of Crossroads program in North Carolina, “I am living proof that what we do here at Crossroads works!”

Once again, Crossroads would like to say a big thank you to those who attended, donated, volunteered, and sponsored.  We are completely grateful for the community and what you have done for us.  We can’t wait for next year!
