2017 Holiday Wishes Come True Thanks to Donor Support

Thanksgiving 2017_1

Every holiday season we reach out to local businesses. organizations and community members  to help provide food boxes, wish lists, and holiday events for our clients and their children. In 2017 our supporters donated over 200 food boxes, over 500 gifts, and two holiday celebrations for the women we serve.

We want to say a big thank you to all of our donors, volunteers and community partners who not only help us during the holiday season but also throughout the entire year. Together we are breaking cycles and building lives of women in New Mexico!

Food Boxes

Holiday food boxes are distributed to clients in November and again in December. Each food box serves a family of 4 and comes complete with all of the fixings for a holiday meal. Thanks to generous donors and community partners, we distributed over 200 food boxes to clients during the 2017 holiday season.

The Albuquerque Area Firefighters Random Acts personally delivered over 20 hot, prepared Thanksgiving meals to the women residing in our three therapeutic communities. They also provided Thanksgiving meals to program graduates at AFD Fire Station #5.

Special thanks to our founder Lisa Simpson, co-founder Susan Tomita, and former Executive Director KC Quirk, who all combined forces this year to donate 50 holiday food boxes. Their continued support and dedication to the Crossroads for Women mission is truly remarkable.

Local companies and community organizations who donated holiday food boxes or monetary funds to purchase food box items in 2017 included:

Wish Lists

Celebrations

Volunteers from the local Knights of Columbus joined forces to provide the space, food, beverages, decorations, and servers for the annual Crossroads for Women Thanksgiving dinner in November 2017. Clients, staff, and program alumni look forward to this Crossroads community event every year. We’re grateful to the Knights of Columbus for their ongoing partnership in helping make this event possible!

Clients also enjoyed a holiday celebration in December at our administrative building, complete with winter crafts, a hot cocoa bar, and a special visit from Santa (played by the one and only KC Quirk)!

Thanks to a donation by Joy Zeiner, all of the clients who attended the holiday party received a potted plant in addition to their wish list gifts. For graduates of our programs who were in need of some extra holiday support, we were able to provide 60 butterfly packages to alumni courtesy of Jane Bickelman of Pursonalities Plus ABQ. Each butterfly package included a nice handbag filled with personal care items like lotion, body wash and more.
