RMCI working on the annex building located north of the main entrance of Crossroads Village

One year ago this month, Crossroads for Women purchased a building to serve as the hub for the organization and a symbol of growth for our program. Since that time staff, volunteers, and funders have brought life into the Crossroads Village, transforming the space beyond what we thought was possible. Right now, Crossroads for Women is close to completing its newest project at The Village: The Butterfly Boutique. An important part to CRFW’s commitment to providing wraparound services is ensuring that women’s basic needs are met so they can focus on individual goals set for independent living. In large part because of donations provided through the community, Crossroads provides hygiene items, clothing and home good items to any woman who has received even one day programming.

In 2021, United Way introduced our organization to RMCI, Inc., a general contractor located in Albuquerque. Our mission and the stories of the women we serve resonated with RMCI, and they proposed providing in-kind support toward an area of need at our new facility. Fortunately, we had the perfect project in mind: an annex building located just to the north of the main entrance of Crossroads Village. This building was long abandoned and had no intact windows when construction began. However, over the past several months, RMCI and its partners have created a beautiful space which will be used for all CRFW’s in-kind donations, where women can shop for their needs with convenience and dignity. The new building will be called the Butterfly Boutique to project the atmosphere Crossroads intends for this building. Women who come the Butterfly Boutique will be welcomed into a storefront that was tailormade with their needs in mind. In addition to the store front, the Butterfly Boutique will be connected to a laundry facility where women can wash their clothes and bedding free of charge in safe space at the same time, they are meeting with their case managers.

Crossroads expects construction on the Butterfly Boutique to be completed by the end of April and will announce an open house once the space if furnished and operational. If you are interested in volunteering to get the Butterfly Boutique up and running or if you’re interested in a regular volunteer position at the Butterfly Boutique, please contact Elise Pippin at elisepippin@crossroadsabq.org.
